Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL)

California Senate Bill 206 or the “Fair Pay to Play Act” was first signed into law on September 30, 2019. The NCAA, state legislators, and members of Congress proposed rules that provide athletes the opportunity to make money by selling their Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) rights while playing in college.

  2. Fairness in Collegiate Athletics Act (S. 4004): Introduced in the Senate on 06/18/2020
  3. College Athletes Bill of Rights (S. 5062): Introduced in the Senate on 12/17/2020
  4. College Athlete Economic Freedom Act (H.R. 850): Introduced in the House on 02/04/2021
  5. Amateur Athletes Protection and Compensation Act of 2021 (S. 414): Introduced in the Senate on 02/24/2021
  6. Student Athlete Level Playing Field Act (H.R. 2841): Introduced in the House on 04/26/2021
